Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on organic farming
Introduction
In the year 2021, this MOOC programme was offered to 1st-year undergraduates of MG University. This programme has one coordinator from each college and mentors from different departments As a part of the programme the first training was given to coordinators on 4th Feb 2021. Another name for this programme is Jaiva Krishi. This online course encourages the youngsters to understand and conceive an organic way of life with a strong message, “Back to Nature”. This will ensure achieving a global perception of sustainable agriculture and will be in consonance with the objectives of the state government's noble mission “Haritha Keralam” Each and every department conducted the MOOC programme 1st-semester project evaluation. Students explained the project through a PPT presentation and gave a precise awareness of this programme to the junior students. They also explained the outcome they received after doing this organic farming. They motivated the junior students and gave clearcut guidance to them.
Objectives
- To achieve the mission of sustainable organic farming.
- To promote organic farming among students.
- To promote the value of the “Haritha Keralam” mission of Kerala.
- Students will be familiar with organic farming and equipped with procedures for organic agriculture and related transition.
- Our students finished the first semester of the programme and did the project.
