Library is the knowledge hub of all academic activities of St. Thomas College. Extensive use of Information Technology provides access to information anytime, from anywhere. Our library proactively acquires and organizes information resources, in all allied subjects, to meet the present and future needs of its users. It is having an extensive collection of books, magazines and journals for the academic fraternity. There are a number of rare and precious books in different subjects. There is multiplicity of copies of all essential text books. The library also subscribes to a number of journals, reviews, periodicals, magazines and newspapers. Students can access the library between 9.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on all working days.
Library Rules
1. Students should have the Library Cards with them while making use of the Library facilities
2. Strict silence and discipline shall be maintained in the Library. Indiscipline of any sort will lead to withdrawal of the privileges in library.
3. Reference material shall not be taken outside the Library.
4. Books for overnight reading will be issued at specific time as decided by the Librarian, and the same must be returned before 9.30 a.m. the .next day.
5. Newspapers and Periodicals will be issued for current reading only inside the library.
6. When Books are issued, students should carefully check the pages of the books issued. If pages are found missing, or marked with pencil or pen, the matter should be reported to the Librarian before leaving the counter. Otherwise the last borrower of the book shall be held accountable for the damage, and shall be fined accordingly. In case a book is lost from the custody of the borrower, the same shall be replaced within the stipulated time. If replacement is not possible, thrice the price of the lost book shall be paid as compensation.
7. Membership Card is not transferable. Students must not lend their Readers Ticket to any other student to borrow books from the Library.
8. Qualifying Certificates, Conduct Certificate and Transfer Certificate will be issued to students only if they have returned all the books and cleared all library dues.
9. In case a student loses his/ her Reader’s Ticket, the matter should be reported immediately to the librarian, and should apply for a Duplicate Card in the prescribed form available at the Library Counter, by paying Rs. 50/- per ticket.
10. If books are not returned on or before the date stamped on the Date Slip, fine fordelay will be charged as shown below:
First day after the due date: Re. 1/- per day
For first week after the due date: Rs. 2/- per day
